Dining room reveal…oh-so-close!

A couple of months ago, we embarked on a dining room makeover.  After seeing our vision come to life a la Layla, we were all in.  We quickly realized it was more of an overhaul than a small makeover.  Anytime you choose to build 10 foot built ins, a massive farmhouse table, add wall paneling….it’s an overhaul.

Now that we FINISHED BUILDING the table yesterday, it’s time to stain and seal it, and bring it into the room today.  I could not be more excited and filled with visions of lazy family meals and gatherings for our friends and family.

That’s why I do what I do.  Why I write about it.  It’s all this journey to create beautiful, comfortable and functional spaces for my family to live in.  To enjoy one another in.

I thought since the full dining room reveal will be within the next week, I would share some of the inspiration photos I pinned to jumpstart my creativity when it came to begin styling.

All of these dining spaces have a few things in common:

  • big, farmhouse dining table
  • comfortable seating
  • interesting walls (art, architectural elements)
  • display for everyday used items, as well as strictly design elements
  • an overall elegant, yet completely casual & traditional vibe
And I can’t help but have table-scaping on the brain…

I can’t wait to share the reveal…and our version of farmhouse dining.

Hope you and yours have a blessed Sunday.

Can’t wait to see the table! You have been working so hard on it and it will be fabulous. Love those pictures, they make me want to sit and visit with old/new friends over a looong, cold glass of iced tea and good conversation. Isn’t that what having a lovely home is really all about? Lisa~

I’m anxiously awaiting your big Dining Room reveal! I love your inspiration pictures…but admit, I’ve already been admiring them on your Pinterest! As I’m working away on my own {much smaller scale!} dining room makeover, I’ve been studying those pictures…and reading your Creating Your Own Masterpiece over and over again! Thanks for taking the time to teach us “newbies” how to paint furniture!…I’m still working on my church pew. Too bad you didn’t live just down the road…

I love these rooms, unfortunately right now my dining room is my husband’s office and it is too small anyway. I think my challenge is to take these ideas that are for rooms much bigger than any I have and downsize them to fit my own house. This is the best part of my morning going through all the blogs I follow and getting ideas. Thanks, I am looking forward to seeing your finished room.

I just told my husband this morning that I hoped your dining room reveal was coming soon!!! I can’t wait to see how your table turned out. I just bought paint stripper yesterday hoping to get started finally on re-doing my used and a bit (very) boring farmhouse table!!! Have fun this week with the final touches!!! :)

Love the carriage lantern hanging over the one table. All these rustic tables are great. The idea of benches is great when you have a rotating number of people to dinner.

You are such an inspiration! I am so excited for you. I just bought your ebook and am excited and hoping revive some stuff I bought! I love the farmhouse tables! YOur work is lovely. Questions though, I have 4 kids is all the white hard to keep clean? Like white kitchen cabinets and all the white walls. I love white and I am jumping into the Ikea Ektorp white couch, however, I going to be painting the kitchen cabinets soon as was going to do black with crystal type knobs for fear of yucky cabinets. Now I am wondering If I should go white.

    Shauna!
I cannot wait to see it! I hope to build a farmhouse table for our kitchen someday soon, but it will have to wait until we are finished with our addition. I LOVE farmhouse tables, and I want a real big one for my four big boys someday. :)

    Love ya!
