You guys know I challenged myself to paint and write everyday beginning in January…

It has brought me so much joy, and I love the practice of getting better and growing in such a steady, intentional way.

I’ve been mixing paint (i have a tutorial coming for you soon), and painting daily, minus a day or two since January 1…but I keep finding myself feeling hesitant to release the collection, even though I feel super inspired and am very proud of the work. Or I find myself second guessing whether or not I should.

All of us creatives fear the same things, after all.

I even finished my huge painting behind my desk this week. Win for the home office/studio.

And still, the hesitation and sense of vulnerability.

So in the spirit of channeling all the advice i give away as a coach, I am going to set a challenge for myself.

30 Paintings in 2 Weeks!

Yep, you heard me right.  I have completed five or six, so that gives until March 1 to finish all 30.  I’m nuts! But it will be such a fun creative challenge, I’ll finish the collection, and get to share the progress here, with you.

We all have to start somewhere when we begin new adventures.  This may be the kick in the butt I need most.  Because I had three specific goals around painting for the first quarter of the year:

  1.  Paint everyday
  2.  Fill my sketchbooks, but also paint for a collection.
  3.  Release my first collection of the year.

So far, it’s taking shape nicely.  I feel like stuff is just coming out of my hands, and I find I can’t wait to sit down to paint…and now I have a number I want to reach.

Feels good to both my creative and business brain.  I’ll be painting small paintings on Arches Oil Paper, in 4×6, 5×7, 6×9, and some 6×6…making it easier for me to tackle and keeping the sale affordable for the lovely people who want to collect one.

So that’s it.

Am I crazy?!  30 paintings in two weeks?  A little crazy.  But crazy can take you to some really fun places. Thanks for sharing in this with me while I learn, and chase this new dream of mine.

What big, beautiful, scary dreams are you chasing right now??
