Last year I shared something special I did for Matt for Valentine’s Day. We try to think outside of the box for each other all the time, and a holiday is just another great excuse to get all swoony.
I thought I would share it with you again this year…
Yesterday I share with you a bit of my story with Matt.
And how I would recreate the Valentine’s Day we shared a decade ago.
If you haven’t read that, you might want to. These pictures probably won’t make much sense without knowing.
So, in pictures, here’s how I pulled off a super simple, super inexpensive, and absolutely affirming Valentine’s Day gift to him.
It was eventually filled with 365 memories/reasons why I’m still crazy about him. Some are super sweet.
Most are pretty funny.
And here’s the same gift…given in the year 2001. Those are vintage airheads.
And there’s the vintage us.
This will be waiting on him when he comes home. Also to be joined by some chocolate covered strawberries.
If there are any left.
I love finding simple ways to keep us remembering all those firsts we’ve shared together over the last 11 years.
You’ve got to tell me…cause we all need fresh material…what do you do for your person??
That is very sweet. Mostly because it is simple and oh so heartfelt. I think this year for my sweetie of 22 years I’m going to back him something yummy and fun. Normally we eat very healthy (I do the cooking) and I don’t do a lot of sweet things, which he loves. I’ve been a little tough on him lately for sneaking in oreos or a bag of cheetos (and such) into the shopping cart. This will be a great surprise for him that I’m actually providing him with some homemade (with love) goodness. He does deserve it.
Ooops. I guess I should have proofed first. I’m going to bake him something.
Shaunna, what a beautiful idea! I really need something like this this year… Sometimes taking yourself back to those magical, early days of your relationship is just what you need. Thank you!
Such a fun idea!! It’s nice to have those little reminders!!
I love that picture of you guys 🙂 My hubby and I had our first date on V-Day 2003, we had never even spoken to each other before, but had seen each other at my work and church. I was in LOVE with him and would say “Will you marry me?!” as he drove out of the bank drive thru every Friday (I was a teller:) But yet we had never had a conversation other than me saying “Thank you have a nice day” as I sent him his cash! Then the day before V-Day he showed up in the drive thru with a rose and a note asking me if I had plans for Valentines Day. On our first anniversary the next year we were about to be married in just 2 more months, I look back and realize how CRAZY that was now!! 😉 But God has blessed us with 9 wonderful years together and an adorable story to tell our kids one day 🙂
OMG! What an adorable story! Congrats to you!
WOW! that is such an amazing story. love is such a blessing once found!
So sweet.
I did a version of this, a jar with 365 slips of pink paper, with reasons why I loved my boyfriend. But…I was also planning our wedding – a very DIY wedding. I’ve still never found the jar with slips. Must be packed away in an unopened box. When I finally find it -it will be a surprise for him AND for me!
I love the vintage you. 🙂
Love this idea! So special. My hubby is less than into Valentine’s Day, so we don’t really do much. Sad!
Well, I don’t have a “person”, but you give me hope that there are keepers out there! I think that is one of the reasons I love your blog so much. It affirms love! I do have some pretty awesome kids and girlfriends though, so maybe some home-made chocolates for each of them!
Awwww…super sweet! We’re still unpacking from a recent move and when I found some old cards we’d given each other, I showed them to my husband (of 34+ years!) and we laughed and relived some great memories all over again. That’s a super silly, but fun, way to reuse 😉

I love the vintage you too! Trying to think of a heartfelt Valentine’s gift for my Valentine of almost 30 years! Maybe a surprise note in his briefcase that he’ll see when he gets to work — still not sure yet! But thanks for your idea!
