Sugar sack chair and all things furniture link party #1

It’s here!  Today marks the first All Things Furniture Party!!  Don’t worry, I came with a small transformation of my own.

Photobucket

I’ve had this sweet little side chair forever, and it sat primed in my garage for a looong time before I became inspired.

And it all started with an old sugar sack.

Photobucket

Here it is all spiffed up, dressed in said sugar sack.

I love the sugar sack.

After finding the sack, I knew I would recover the seat with it, and paint the chair Annie Sloan’s Louis Blue.  After distressing, I gave it a coat of clear wax.

I’m a huge fan of distressing down to the wood and a primer or base coat…this time being a primer (because it was already applied when I began).

Simple, fun.  Love it.

How about you???

What furniture projects have you been up to lately?  I cannot wait to see each and every one, so LINK EM UP!!

This linky party is for all things furniture….builds, makeovers, restoration, even your favorite piece.  Keep it to furniture, and you’re golden!

I’m still working on a button, so just include a text link back or feel free to grab my button from the “grab a button” page.

Don’t forget to visit some folks, and to tell everyone about the party…it’s brand spankin’ new, after all.

Let’s see them!

:-)

Shaunna, you’re so modest “oh it’s jst a little something I’ve put together.” What a cute chair! Nice color I’ve been keeping my eyes open for sacks I can’t wait to do a transformation with one. I woke up this morning thinking “what should I post for the party?” Well I’m going to past a side chair too :) Thanks for helping me make the decision. Thanks for hosting.

Ok! You and Miss Mustard Seed are killing me!! I feel like Veruca Salt… “Daddy! I want a grain sack tooooo!” Although “daddy” would need to be replaced with “hubby”, and he’d probably tell me to get over it! ;) I know Marian (I hope it’s ok that I refer to her by her first name, hehe) did a post on European grain sacks, but where do you find “American” ones, i.e. Sugar?? I have a vision for 2 hideous barstools that are begging for a makeover!! Love your blog!

    Thanks,
    E.
