I just had to show you what we’ve been working on around here.
It’s been such an exhilerating and exhausting week. We have been “tot” schooling Grayson for over a year, but we’ve officially started pre-school this week! I also have done some extensive treatments to a queen headboard and foot board, an antique vanity/dresser, an antique desk, and finishing up the guest room for my in-law’s this weekend. And…somehow tonight when we got home from supper, I mopped the whole house (love those hardwood floors), cleaned the guest room and bath, and dusted the whole house with Murphy’s wood soap (do you love that smell as much as I do??)
Whew. If it weren’t totally obnoxious, I might be impressed with myself.
It was just so exciting and new that I had to show you guys what we worked on this week and will work on tomorrow and Saturday morning.
This was our first day and here’s Grayson’s ABC chart; it coordinates with a verse each week and he works on tracing, cutting, matching, sight words, singing, and crafts that go with our theme as well.
He also has “workboxes” that we complete each school day. They’re not actually boxes, but I’ll get that set from Ikea one day. He has 3 or 4 he has to complete in order and then his star boxes are open ended learning toys; he gets to choose the order and how long he wants to play with those.
So, he can solve a rubix cube, but the cutting? Man, it’s tough. We’ve had a wonderful week so far, and I’m so thrilled to share this experience with him! I have no illusions that every week will be this easy and flow so naturally…but this week did and I’ll be grateful for that while I can.
There’s something in the water around here…Matt and I were just random and goofy the other night, so I pulled out the video camera…
