Well, it was time for this shady lady and I to head to some local flea markets.
We had major scoping out to do.
I needed some mantel stuff.
She needed a rug.
We didn’t get her rug, which I now realize was quite selfish of me. Because we spent all the day long looking at those legs up there. That found their way home with me.
Along with a whole bucha other stuff that will happily land itself on my spring mantel.
Some of it will remain untouched, and well, some of it already looks different.
It was such a wonderful day; there’s nothing quite like laughter-filled adult conversation all day long.
And coming home to the non-adult kind.
🙂
My girlfriends and I love Eastbrook Antique Mall. Did you hear that a five year old drove his mother’s car into the front windows?! She left the child inside while “making a quick run into a store” and the child got behind the wheel. Horrors! Layla has always been a sweet and artistic person. Looks like the two of you have much fun combining your talents 🙂 Have a great weekend!!
Hi Shaunna. I’m one of the thousands of followers who enjoy your posts every day, lurking around, never leaving you a comment. Sorry ’bout that. But today, this post really struck me. Why? The black serving tray with the roses – my mother had those when I was growing up. They were TV trays. Heck, she probably still has them around somewhere.
It just struck me. A simple tray and I got totally emotional. Oh . . . she’s still alive, btw. I stay with her full time now while she fights cancer. But the tray-thing took me back to a much happier, simpler time in both of our lives.
Thank you for that 🙂
Sounds like a fun day with a friend!!
I love days like those!

What nice flea market finds! I am going next weekend with my MiL. we went last weekend and didnt come home with much more than a lamp and some old cabinet doors.
I’m headed to the nashville flea market tomorrow and I’m soooo excited! My mom’s babysitting so my hub and I can have a day date. Um, he doesn’t know where were going yet. ha ha. I’ll let him pick the lunch spot , hee hee. LOVE YOUR BLOG
I wouldn’t worry too much about Layla missing out on her rug! From what I know of her through her blog, it gives her an excuse to go back 😉
it sound like you gals had fun! my friend and i do the same thing every couple of weeks and always come home with a big bag of stuff! On my last treasure hunt i found Hilda and she only cost me $15!
Cheers, Sibylle
Oh, how fun it must be to go antiquing with the two of you! You “shady ladies” have a style that is right up my alley – although you couldn’t tell by looking at my house. We’ll just have to see what we can do to change that.
I also remember those trays! Makes me relive some of my childhood days and think of my mama too!!!!
First of all, love my babies. But I’m super jealous of a full grown up day in thrift shops. I’m sure your husband is getting a big kiss for that 😉 And those legs! Oh I’m a sucker for legs. See? Even when they are orange: http://joyfulimperfection.blogspot.com/2010/07/dining-table.html But I did improve them: http://joyfulimperfection.blogspot.com/2010/12/dining-room-completefinally.html
I enjoyed our day SO MUCH! 🙂
Can’t wait to see what you do with your mantel….you know I love that green jar! LOL!
Oh, I love the hunt and especially love it when I come home with something beautiful. Looks like you got some great treasures!
Hey Shaunna! I have fallen in luuuuve with your blog. Decided it was time to convert over to a follower (why does that always sound so creepy???). Well off to peruse some more of your fabulous posts!
Have a great week!
Looks like the best kind of fun. I’m very curious to see what you come up with on the mantle!
Can’t wait to see what you do with the table…. I have one almost exactly like it waiting in my garage!
NO WAY. I swear to you I just found one of those “green jugs” in my basement. Yeah. It’s a wine bottle and I turned mine to a vase.

In case you want a pair… Livingstone wine. lol!
