Aah…
Do you hear that?
It’s the sound of zero Christmas ornaments being pulled off the tree and bouncing on the hardwood floor.
No crunching (artificial) branches underfoot.
No Christmas carols.
Wait!
I miss the Christmas carols.
Doesn’t it feel good, though, to simply get rid of the extra clutter that comes with the holiday’s? I’m always thrilled to pull it all out, but I am equally thrilled to put it all away.
This year, though, it was time to bring in the big guns. I’m sort of a Christmas hoarder. Hence, a LOT of Christmas ornaments/decor to store.
Hence, there are too many to locate so I can only pull out less than half each year.
Hence…
time to reorganize.
Now we’re getting somewhere.
All ornaments are now organized by color or theme. Metallics, red, green, aqua, burlap accents, oversized ornaments, breakable/special ornaments.
Gets me quite giddy.
No organizer is complete without one of these guys…the installer of the organization.
🙂
It all tucks nicely into our remaining attic space.
What’s that sound?
Only my sigh of relief.
🙂

You will be so happy next yr. when you pull them out and "voila"….all neatly organized and ready to put up..I'm jealous, I did alittle of what you did but not as much. Maybe next yr!
I tell you what – for as much as I LOVE our Christmas decorations, I also LOVE the weeks in January when the house feels so big and clean without them!
Congrats – you've been awarded the stylish blogger award! Come check it out: http://designingdomesticity.blogspot.com/2011/01/stylish-blogger-award.html
Being organized is ALWAYS nice and having a HELPER to do all the carrying…lol
i always find it a bit sad taking down all the christmas decor.
Wow – just think how easy it will be for you to get the Christmas spirit going in your house next year, Shaunna! 🙂 You put me to shame, you know that? lol! Cute pic of you, too!
A fun photo of you, Shaunna! A great way to organzie your ornaments! It'll be so much easier next year when you pull everything out. I'm still putting my decor away. The house looks a tad bit empty without it all. It takes me a few days to get used to it. But, it is nice and clean!
So I just clicked over from Dear Lillie because I saw 'perfectly imperfect' in her sidebar and that just happens to be really close to my blog name, but I have a hunch perfectly imperfect has really different meanings for both of us! Anyone, I think I will love your blog! 🙂
Shaunna…doesn't feeling organized feel GREAT!!! Also, I wanted to let you know that I ADORE your guest room….especially that dresser….oh. my. goodness. Such talent, you have my dear.
I'm decorating less and less as my children grow up and out so one thing I've started to do when possible is store the decorations in the room where I (always) display them. Obviously this only works for smaller items and in rooms with extra storage but it helps and it's nice to be able to start putting decorations out little by little.
I miss the Christmas Carols too! I like the clear storage containers…I need to organize that way.
It feels so refreshing to take everything down, doesn't it? 🙂
I had a Christmas decoration depression day today. We did not decorate as we are moving house this weekend. Today we cleaned out the attic…everything…and there were so many boxes marked Xmas I nearly passed away. So I will be going through each and every one when we get to the new house and then packing them away until next year 🙂 Oh Joy!!! Ho! Ho! Ho! At least I have a year!!!
I just came across this post and HAD to laugh! I have been collecting Christmas stuff for 23 years of marriage!!!!!! I have finally decided that my soon to be 22 yo son can have his Christmas ornaments, LOL! I will also be packing up each other child’s stuff in their own boxes. I have four trees. One is the main tree and the others are just little accent trees..but all the boxes of ornaments, garland, lights, decorations, stockings (I have three sets) etc…well, I lost count at twenty! Or actually just preffered to ignore the count, whichever! hehe. I’m totally on board with getting it organized though. I couldn’t find the things I wanted to put out this past Christmas, so I vowed to organize and go through all the stuff for a better next year! Wish me luck!
