Happy Labor Day!
After ripping out Ava’s carpet and painting 100 floor boards, we are in FULL project mode around here.
Hence, our home is working construction zone.
Hence, the topic of my 31 days series.
If you guys haven’t met The Nester (and who hasn’t?!?), first visit her blog, and then visit this post to see just how cool she is.
Truly, not only do we both embrace imperfections in life and design, I just think she’s exactly the perfectly wacky sort I’d be seen with if she lived down the street.
So, I’ll be joining her this October, writing about beautiful imperfections of all sorts–family, decorating, painting, life. Those are just kinda my thing, ya know, so I thought writing 31 days in a row (I know, I’m scared!) about this topic didn’t seem quite so daunting.
Until I watched Julie & Julia this weekend.
I’ll be writing about imperfections like these.
It also occurs to me that so many of us who blog & read blogs get totally sucked into the perfect world of staged pics vs. my life. It couldn’t be more ridiculous, and yet, we do it all the time. I can’t tell you how many people, despite my adamant declaration that our home is quite often messy and unorganized, have said to me, “I don’t know how your home is so perfect!”
What? Huh? WHO?
Not only will we celebrate life’s imperfections during October, you’ll also get a seriously real glimpse into our lives…a little less staging for the blog’s sake.
You game to stick it out for 31 days with me?
I’m doing the 31 day challenge also! Love the Nester, love the new floors in Ava’s room, love some Shaunna first thing in the morning. It’s gonna be a good day. 🙂 Lisa~
I love this idea!
Love it, Shaunna! I did my first 31 Days last October and it was HARD but also pretty amazing. Still kicking it around for this year….I fear I don’t have 31 days worth of ANYTHING to say! ha!
Ha! I find that HARD to believe! You, my oh so articulate and soulful, friend.
🙂
xoxo,
shaunna
I’m in! 🙂 It’s funny, cause half the time I don’t let people past my threshold because a disaster lies beyond inside my house and yet people think my house looks like my blog pics even though I disclose messy pics too.
look forward to your series.
What a great idea! My question is how long do you leave the tent up? Our little guy thinks we should keep it up all the time, which means we would never have dinner at our table. Lol
I’m working on my 31 days already…fun and scary at the same time! Can’t wait!
I’m going to join in on the 31 days of fun, too….scared of the commitment but looking forward to it.
Wow! What a good idea! No one is perfect and I look forward to reading your posts Shaunna.
Great idea. I always thought there should be a “real life of a cottage” party… I don’t like the kind of competition to “perfectness” that exists among blogs.
Oh, yay! Sounds like a fun series and I’ll definitely be reading! 🙂
GO 4 IT
I am SO in! Your blog always makes me want to just go paint something. 😉
And it’s nice to see that you sometimes have a messy family room too. You (and only a small handful of others) are why I started a blog – I love all of your posts and looking forward to the progress update on your shop!
