Happy Monday, my favorite folks!
We spent the weekend in Nashville, had a great time with family & made some time to hit the flea market. I can’t wait to show you all we came across (and bought), but in the meantime, I wanted to share a couple of behind-the-scenes moments around here.
I’ve been trying to venture out lately with treatments I’m using, to show you guys and to have some different looks at the shop. I’m completely digging this dark waxed piece (which is not my norm) & those huge knobs.
And the best part?
The top is pretty ridiculous, too. Don’t tell Matt, but I’m having a hard time parting with this one.
I’m also playing with texture and new finishes using Chalk Paint™, and there’s a rumor that I might be putting together another eBook of hand painted finishes. Who knows?
For me, it’s important to change my environment frequently to stay creative, and come up with fresh inspiration. I have to close the computer and pick up the paint brush, stick my nose in some books, crank up my music, and laugh with my kids.
Hope you guys had a wonderful, inspired weekend. Here’s to another week of creating!
Please tell me what color that blue/gray is. I am getting ready to paint a few pieces in my dining room and am torn between a few of the AS blues as I can’t get a good close up picture of the color. This picture is perfect and might just make my decision easier.
thankyou.
Hey Tracy! It’s Aubusson–this pic looks like it has a little more gray in it than it does.
🙂

thank you so much!
Super excited about the eBook! I refer to the original all the time when painting furniture! I love the crackle piece. I recently started experimenting with that stuff too! Can’t wait to see the pieces!
Shaunna,
I’ve been following your blog for several months now, and I thought you might be interested to know I recently visited Annie Sloan’s Oxford shop during my family vacation to London. Although I had purchased one of Annie’s books a few years back, it was your blog that inspired me to really dive into my furniture painting projects. I love your work and will continue to follow your posts for even more great ideas! I wish I could come take one of your classes, but I live in CA, so it’s a little far for me. If you would like to see my pictures of my Oxford visit, I posted them on my site http://www.prettylovelyhappy.com. By the way, I also credited your site as my inspiration 🙂 Good luck with your Annie Sloan Chalk Paint business!
Sandy
Love that blue paint and the crackle finish, I have got to get over my fear and try it.
Your paint and brushes look so pretty! Gosh it’s a hot mess when I’m working. I look forward to hearing more about the book!
Love the aubusson and the crackle finish!
I had forgotten all about 4th Saturday at the Nashville flea market. Used to go many years ago to the large shows in May and October. Pack a picnic lunch and a cooler of “refresh”ments and drag my Mom from Paducah and Aunt from Chattanooga all over the fairgrounds. Can’t wait to see your finds! Now I’m thinking I might need to plan for October and drag a daughter or two along. LOL got to do something with my stash of ASCPAINT.
Hi Shaunna,
Another ebook would be great, and even any video. We all love your accent. I am wanting to paint my from entry chandelier to look like one from Restoration Hardware. It is a bronze metal and I want to get the look of an aged white washed wood. I need to do some playing around to get the right look. I am planning on using the Annie Sloan paint.
Have you done any painting on metal with this paint? Any suggestions?
Chalk paint sounds really interesting! I am so not a painter but your pictures are inspiring me. Who knows, maybe I’ll get a little crafty this weekend 🙂
