Remember when I told you to come back to see how you could be featured on the blog?
Well, it will soon be time for me to be gone on our mission trip to Honduras. I hope to be able to pop in from time to time to show you some of the houses we’re building (we’re shooting for 12-15 at least!), but there’s no guarantee I’ll have internet or even access to a computer.
My good friend Layla already offered to guest post for me while I’m gone, and I thought it would be a lot of fun to have some of you featured!
Do you have a furniture makeover you’d like to share?
Or maybe a painting technique, or your top 5 tips you’ve learned along the way? Maybe you want to share a little of everything.
Maybe even a room makeover we need to see?
I’ll need at least 5 guest posts but will probably take up to 10…leave a comment in this post and tell me what you’d like to post about. First ones to leave comments will have first choice, but don’t hesitate to leave a comment…this won’t be the only time I’ll have guest posters. If you email me, though, it will probably get lost in the shuffle. That’s why commenting here will be the best bet.
I’ll pull all of your posts together by Monday, April 25 and you’ll be on the blog sometime between May 5-14.
I can’t wait to see what you come up with and can’t wait to share YOU with everyone here!!
I’m hoping to share a furniture makeover with you on Monday or Tuesday, along with some exciting news for me!!
🙂
I am working on my very first slipcover for a chair. I’ve posted several “progress posts” but the big reveal with the finished chair should be coming by the end of this week. I would love to guest post for you!
I hope you have a great time in Honduras. I have been twice on mission trips and had an amazing trip both times. The people there are so friendly and welcoming.
I’d love to post about my picture framed turned into a chicken wire/collage station! I can take better pictures and make it fabulous!

I’d love to post about a chair I refinished and covered in a really funky fabric. Here’s the link. http://lifefordessert.blogspot.com/2011/04/my-hearts-all-flutter-butterfly-chair.html
I just had to peek! What a gorgeous job! I am in love with your chair!!!
thank you so much Jerrilyn!
I’m working on a kid’s muskoka chair, spray painted new from a cheapo Sesame Street former self 🙂
I’d love to guest post for you! It could be one of my prior posts, i.e., http://charmbraceletdiva.blogspot.com/2011/04/monogram-flour-sack-pillow-tutorial.html
or

or
http://charmbraceletdiva.blogspot.com/2010/12/pottery-barn-inspired-christmas-candles.html (can be tweaked for any holiday or any time of year~ Spring, perhaps?!)
or a brand new post, perhaps?
I’ve seen Flo’s site and she has some great pieces! I vote for her guest post!
Muchas gracias, Dana! : ) Encouragement when I need it the most. God bless!
I would love to guest post. I have some projects coming up and some projects recently done. I also like to “shop” my own home; move things around and they feel fresh again. I invite you visit my blog and see if it fits what you’re looking for. Have a safe mission trip.
Hey there!
I have a sideboard that was in BAD shape. I also have a pedestal table that I got for 15 bucks– made both of these into great shabby chic pieces… and if that doesn’t suit your fancy, I redid our living room. Let me know if you need more info.
Heather
Send me some links on over, Heather!

Doing it now! Thanks!
I sent them to your e-mail. 🙂
I’d love to guest for you, Shaunna. This was a clever idea to make a post about guesting. I have some things in the works… a French Country Chair Refinish (and Reupholster), an antique crate refinish (I refinished it once before but now that I’m addicted to chalk paint, I’m going at ‘er again with Paris Gray), a white sofa slipcover (shared as part of my home tour but I haven’t blogged about it separately yet…need to finish some pillows), an ottoman slipcover with white denim & gray jersey knit, a parsons chair slipcover with white linen. Whichever project you want me to blog about, I’ll be sure to finish by the 24th for you. Also, you featured my zinc nightstand a while back so if you get a lot of requests, feel free to move me to the bottom of the pile. I’m patient – I just love your blog & want to help out…and it would be an honor to guest post for your talented, sweet self. Either way, sending blessings your way for your trip to Honduras.
Hugs,
Jami
Sorry! When I posted, I was only showing as #4. Didn’t mean to sound pretentious there if I did! That’s not my style AT ALL. lol
How exciting for you to go to honduras! I would love to do something like that. I’d love to share my upholstery series on your blog, or how I made over my chevron chair, or the dining table and chairs I’m currently restoring.
Hey jen! What’s your upholstery series link? I’d love to see it!
🙂
shaunna
Shaunna,
The link to part 1 is : http://littlemisspennywenny.blogspot.com/2011/03/how-to-re-upholster-with-drop-cloth.html
This series sort of began as a tutorial on how I upholstered one particular chair with a drop cloth but has sort of evolved into a general reupholstery series (including pics from several chairs I have done recently). Part 2 is here:
http://littlemisspennywenny.blogspot.com/2011/03/re-upholstery-with-drop-cloth-part-2.html
Part 3 is currently in the works but I would be glad to finish in time to post on your site, and can share it here before I post it on my own site if you prefer. Please let me know if you’d like me to go into detail about anything in particular. Part 3 will include details on double welting cord, and how to create a custom “bubble” cushion. Thanks Shaunna!
I just finished my minor kitchen renovation with much help from your blog and several others! I would love to show everyone what I did and if there’s anything else I could add or subtract to make it better!
Thank you!
Jeri
send me some pics or a link, girl!
🙂
shaunna
Can you add my as a friend on facebook? I’m new to this “Mac” thing and not sure how to link photos!
Sent you an email with the pics Shaunna! Still haven’t figured out the link thing yet, I’m such a Mac noob lol

Your trip sounds fun! Have a great adventure!

Hi Shaunna,
Not sure if my last comment got published…so this is a test!
Emily
I would love to do a christ reflections post for your blog. I think it would make a great kick-off to your guest post week and trip in general. I love the ones that you have already done and would love to contribute! I also am working on some projects if you definitely want to have a project to share in the guest post.
Good luck on your trip! Prayers for safe travels and sucessful service!
Hi! I’d love to share with your readers a bookcase transformation that I’m working on that involves making white book covers for all my books. I should be finish toward the end of this week. I’m excited about how it’s turning out. :o) Good luck on your trip! My husband has traveled many times to Panama and Costa Rica, ministering to many young people of those countries. May God bless your work in Honduras.
I am redoing a whole house. All the rooms went from dark deep 90’s shades of maroon, green and blue to light filled cottage with a touch of farmhouse and beach-house. I could share with you the diningroom maybe, or even the kitchen. As those are pobably the most extreme makeovers.
🙂 I will miss you when you’re gone!
I have a leather top table I re-stored if you’re still looking for anyone.
http://littleblueprints.blogspot.com/2010/06/if-heather-chaduck-can-do-it-so-can-i.html
I have other makeovers to but this one is my favorite.
Meg
My mom hadn’t redone her kitchen since mauve and country blue (for those of you unfamiliar with that decorating scheme it was something like 20 yrs ago)! She enlisted my help for the transformation that is currently in progress. I would love to share the reveal as a guest post. I know I am a little late in responding as there are definitely over 10 responses at this point.
I am so excited that you are going to be a guest for FLT!
I will be praying for you as you prepare for and embark on your trip. I hope that you are able to build a ton of homes. God will surprise you in so many ways! Of anything I have learned from my mission trip experiences it would be, some times our determined goal for the day is transformed by his!
I would be so nervous to guest post for your BEAUTIFUL blog… but hey why not leave a comment… nothing to loose! ; ) I have many furniture transformations… but something fun like “keeping it real” here:http://www.upcyclefurnitureco.com/2010/11/home-sweet-home.html or my simple kitchen :http://www.upcyclefurnitureco.com/2010/11/my-little-ol-kitchen-on-budget.html these are a few older posts… but I could “renew”. anyhow… I admire you and your Honduros adventure.
Hope your mission trip turns out to be more than you could even imagine…have a great trip dear.
Ill watch for the guest posts and can’t wait to see whats posted xo

Hi! I love your blog and I’m in the process of starting one myself. I want it to be all about thrift store finds for home decor as well as fashion. Everyone keeps telling me that I have a knack for this so I feel like God is moving me in the direction of using this as a creative outlet as well as a way to glorify Him. I plan to feature fashion finds on “Fashion Friday” and have a co-blogger, my twelve year old daughter. I’ll be referring to myself as The Thrifter while my daughter will be lil’ thrifter. Any words of wisdom or advice??? I’m in the Birmingham area too by the way…
Love your blog and especially love the “book” you have been sharing. Of course, I’m a little partial b/c I’m a school counselor by day. Thank you for sharing your story…as a mom to girls it’s so refreshing for them to see that feeling like you don’t fit in is so very normal.
Praying for your trip to Honduras…sorry for the length of this email!
Blessings
I hope you enjoy your mission trip and come back with lots of pictures to update us all. – I would love to guest post about my daughters big girl bedroom reveal. I’ve posted a few teasers but not the final reveal.

Hi Shaunna,
I’d love to guest post (remember when I asked if you’d guest post for me?!). Lol. I always read your blog by email…and just got this post right now….after 43 other commenters commented!!
You know my blog already. http://www.akadesign.ca. Obviously I have no lack of things to chat about!
I know you must be so excited about your trip and the houses you’re building. We just found out there’s going to be a huge (24 houses) Habitat for Humanity build near here and we’re so excited!
XO,
Shannon
I would love to but looks like I’m a little late 🙂
Have a wonderful trip. It’s a wonderful thing you are
doing !
I know I don’t have a blog or anything, but I did an amazing makeover this past fall on my dining room furniture. You probably remember me asking you for advice! Anyway, I took a dining room suite made of red mahogany and turned it into what looks like old barnwood! It is truly an AMAZING transformation! Not sure I posted it on my facebook page or not, but it is something I am truly proud of and I actually used two different methods–one on the table and one on the other two pieces. They look identical but the processes used were VERY different!! I would LOVE to share it with your readers!!
I’m working on a twin headboard and footboard that I found at a dumpster. I’d love to share a post once they’re completed. This is a link of the before picture. http://lebirdetlebear.wordpress.com/2011/04/16/dumpster-finds/
Happy Sunday!
Heather
My favorite project so far is how I made a wallpaper look with paint and painters tape. I’d love to guest post it!
http://lisasroombyroom.blogspot.com/2011/03/painters-tape-wallpaper.html
I have a redesign in the works as well. My back hallway is also sort of our mud room. New paint, hooks, beadboard, and I also have some smaller projects planned. Chalkboard wall and pin board.
Just re-did my 12 year olds bedroom. It turned out super cute. http://pedalingfast.blogspot.com/2011/04/birthday-excuse-to-paint-bedroom.html
re-did her bathroom too. Also very cute. http://pedalingfast.blogspot.com/2011/04/because-bathroom-needed-to-match.html
I have just finished a couple of projects that you might like & would LOVE to guest blog for you!! Let me just say your blog is one of the first that I found, that inspired me to start a blog, so Thank you & you are so awesome!

Hi Shaunna! Good luck in Honduras! That’s so exciting! I’d love to help support you while you are gone, though it looks like I’m late to the party 🙂 I just finished constructing the final touch to my living room makeover. We just moved to Alaska so I styled my new living room to reflect our new surroundings in what I like to call a modern chalet-chic style. Think modern but cozy Vail ski chalet. I just finished constructing a two story wood plank tv surround above my mantle up to the ceiling to give it the wall above the mantle a faux chimney look. It’s all come together beautifully. I should receive the final touches by next week.. I could send you so e pictures to look at once I have it done… Interested?
I know you have had a ton of offers to guest post. I would love to do one as well! If you have any other space or need any other fillers I would love to help out! I refinish furniture as well, I also paint old clay pots and add chalkboard finish…and I search for unique finds to sell in my etsy shop. I would love to post about any of these! Let me know if I can help out!
I guess I am late:-(((( but in case you need something really different, check out my Birthday in a suitcase!
i redid my laundry room from a dark, boring space to a happy, fun, princess-ey room with a chandelier and did it all for under $50.00 and almost entirely by myself…..
the link is here

I admire what you are doing…..it is a great mission….
hugs, cindy
Shaunna,
I love your blog and it would be an honor to the Nth degree if I had the opportunity to guest post. I love to re purpose and turn things from curbside to fireside! Armed with poster board, trim and a hot glue gun, I’ve learned how to do some upholstery basics that are SO easy, and so not threatening. Primarily upholstering over a cane back chair that has busted caning. I had to pass up so many pretty chairs because of the caning. For the most part you get them for DIRT cheap – obviously because there is busted caning. But with this technique you can hoard those $3 chairs to your hearts content! Here are some links to my posts on the topic:

http://sugarandspackle.blogspot.com/2011/02/before-after-diy-upholstered-cane-back.html
I have ZERO formal training in this but I love to just try things out and sometimes they work- sometimes they don’t! I’d love to share the experience with you and your readers.
have an amazing trip!

Hi Shaunna!
What a wonderful adventure you are off to!! We would love to help you!
We have a blog called “Living Livelier” where we write about all things design, but that also includes plenty of DIY projects! A couple of ones that might be appropriate are taking items – some from our local dump – and turning them into lovely finished pieces! Here are links to a couple you might be interested in.

Shaunna–I’m going to launch my blog this next week—You and Layla are my biggest inspiration for doing so! I’m going to email you some pictures of the stairs that I did and see if you would want to feature the “How to” on one of your guest blogs…I’ll tag my email with “stair project–guest blog”. I’m a newbie….but I’m excited to get started!
Thanks for all the great post!—Jen

I’m new to the world of blogging but have been crafting, decorating and revamping things for years. I would LOVE for your help to get me up and running in the blog community 🙂 I have so many different projects that could be featured- board and batten dining room wall, delicious recipes, furniture redos (including our dining room chairs that went from unpadded oak to padded creamy white!), wall decor, DIY silhouettes and more! I would be so grateful. Thanks
The Creole Cottage is an upcycled home goods store in New Orleans and we are constantly creating “trashformations.” We would welcome the opportunity to do a before/after type guest post on one of our pieces and let readers know how it was done.
Hey Shauna!
Right now I am building a farm table. oooh! Just got the top done so I’ve got a little ways to go! Let me know if you’re interested. (or I’d love to post about anything else)
