Along with all the site work I told you about yesterday, it’s time to get started on some client projects and projects around the house.
Perfectly Imperfect (the restoration side) has become strictly client pieces, for the most part. It just sort of morphed, and honestly, it’s so much fun to choose pieces with/for a client and work with them to create a look that they’re in love with. Plus, I sometimes get to collaborate on the design of the room…and that’s seriously fun.
I do still pick up the occasional pieces, whether for their beauty or their price.
I grabbed this antique Jenny Lind a few weeks ago,
this adorable children’s rocker (that I’m highly considering keeping for Ava),
and this great little nightstand. I am seeing it a beachy two-tone gray/blue and white, with some vintage inspired cup pulls. I’m hoping to get this one started this week.
There’s some smaller projects in the works, like removing the crackle from my cousin’s coat rack,
and converting this to a candle-lier.
I’m really itching to paint that door and my mom has commissioned me to refinish her dining table….yay! It will be so much fun to work with her.
But the thing I can’t get out of my mind?
Check out the focus of this picture (Suzanne Kasler’s Inspired Interiors I got for Christmas)….White.
I’m all but begging Matt to let me paint the living, dining, kitchen, and hallway white. A soft, gray-white, but white all the same. Our whole downstairs is wide open, and I’ve been itching for more of a blank slate down here.
I’m drawn to cooler colors for the moment, warming it up with wood tones and fabrics rather than creams/browns in our wall color.
But the beauty of white?
When I’m good and ready, we can always throw some more beige pillows on the couch.
Can you help me convince him?
Please???
🙂
There are so many things that I would love to do that I don't think my sweet husband would even consider. (yet) I want to paint my fireplace and would love to paint my kitchen cabinets. My hubby sees no reason. I will respect him and just hope that someday he will see the light….just kidding.
You are going to be a busy girl this coming year!!!
Oh I love the white and I am contemplating painting my living room white as well. I did my kitchen and I love it and warmed it up like you said. I agree with Kristin, get some samples and let him help choose or do what I do and paint away one day while he is gone! 😉 Good luck!!
What color is it now? My entire house is white white white–but it doesn't get a lot of natural light, which is not good for white I think. I have paint swatches everywhere trying to decide what color to paint. Good luck. Most guys like strong bold color. I tend to paint stuff when he's out of town. haha 🙂
I tried SO HARD to go all white when I redid the living areas last year. But I just couldn't do it. I am too drawn to the seafoam/turquoise color. So I used that on the walls and did white/beige colors on the furniture, etc. It's hard to do. Color is appealing. I'll be curious to see if you can do it. 🙂 Lisa~
not sure i could do all white either…but i have toned down as the living room went from cherry red to greenbrier beige. i LOVE the neutrality of it and how it calmed the room down…so i think i "get" what your'e wanting to do. nevertheless…whatever you do will be absolutely perfectly imperfect!!
i am a huge fam of all white… you can keep it all neutral with beige and gray and aqua accents, or add pops of bright greens and yellows when you need some fun color!
I'll try to convince your hubby….if you can convince my hubby to let me paint the kitchen cabinets white and wood trim in the downstairs rooms white, too! lol! What is it with guys and their love for dark color and dark wood???? ugh!!
I have admired Suzanne Kasler's signature white style since seeing her spread in the April 2008 House Beautiful. My sister bought Inspired Interiors for me as a housewarming gift when we moved into our new house in April of this year. I opted to paint our very open living/dining/kitchen Benjamin Moore's Bone White (see pgs. 76-77 in her book) and I couldn't love it more. We live in Alaska so I was worried about an all-white room feeling cold; this warm white is exactly the color I was hoping for. My husband was skeptical as well, but is now won over. I have so loved visiting your blog, Shaunna, since my sister introduced me 2 months ago. Your vulnerability and willingness to view interior design as a process rather than a product has been very healthy for me. Looking forward to sharing your journey with you in 2011.
Can't wait to see my coat rack…thank you!
