Hey friends!
I’m having some fun checking out the projects and transformations on the first Style Feature Saturday!  Head over here to link up, enter the giveaway, and get some great inspiration!! My favorites coming tomorrow!
I told you about the great gals at the local KD chapter, remember?
When they asked me about updating these two huge pieces, I was so excited to bring out those details, but let me be honest and say that I was fairly nervous.  This is NICE furniture, and not that I don’t attempt to get each piece to “beyond nice”, but these began in excellent condition and had a completely smooth finish.
That’s a little different than taking a curbside find and turning it into Cinderella at the ball. More like taking Cinderella at the ball and adding some red lipstick and Jimmy Choo’s.
The girls wanted a fresh and natural look flowing throughout the house, so I envisioned white with a natural touch or texture.
Here’s what I came up with.  It’s so funny; I wasn’t crazy the leaf detailing in black, but I love it now.  It actually fits perfectly in my home…do you think they would notice if I didn’t deliver it Friday?
Some details…
Now it seems silly that I was worried, because I think the finish is beautiful and actually, is probably my favorite piece to date.  I used my other sprayer to spray on the Varathane, and it is devine! To me, it took the finish to a more professional level…love it!
When I saw the piece, I knew I wanted to add some color to the hardware to avoid too much “sweetness and romance.”  I found these anthropologie-inspired amber glass knobs at Hobby Lobby 50% and I knew they’d be perfect.  I bought enough for the entire piece, but I loved the original drop pulls and I hoped the girls would let me mix them up.
They let me do my thang and I think it’s quirky and unexpected.
I’ve had a couple of questions from the sneak peek I showed you guys a couple of weeks ago.  I used Ben Moore’s White Diamond, which is my go-to, in a satin finish and sprayed a satin finish Varathane to seal.  Hope that helps!
What’s your go-to white??
