Edited to enter in CSI’s Furniture Makover Challenge.  Giveaway expired…sorry! 🙂
I’m finally back with a Perfectly Imperfect Restoration project!  I have been working very hard for the last 2 weeks.
But this project was a little different.  More persistent work on one project, than lots of little projects.
Here’s the before:
That’s right….a dining table and 6 chairs.  The lines were so pretty, but the pecan stain was a little dated.   I had done Ashley’s coffee and end tables, and bless her heart, she asked me to help her pick out a dining suite and refinish it for her.  Not only did the amount of work take much longer, but Ashley and her husband decided that we should restain the top.  A lot of work, but I was happy to do it.
And I think it turned out great!  Here it is in Ashley’s dining room.
The top was stripped 3 times…I’m not sure, but I think the top had been poly’d 10 times or more….and then heavily sanded to get it down to the bare wood.  I chose a dark walnut stain and to get this more solid look, stained 3 coats and poly’d 3 times for durability.
The legs and chairs were painted white and lightly glazed brown, which slightly softened the look.  She hasn’t found the perfect fabric yet, so we left the original upholstery….which looks great in her room.  Definitely just right until she finds something that’s totally her.
Having seen Ashley’s dining room, I knew this table and chairs seemed like it was meant to be there.  Doesn’t it all look so beautiful?
So, of course, being me, there was only one thing to do.  Throw some staging stuff in a basket and take way too many pictures.
Hope you don’t mind. 🙂
I have to give a shout to my sweet husband, who helped me deliver these pieces on our way out of town for a little getaway.  We were married 7 years ago today….I adore you, honey, and I pray that we are continually growing together in Spirit, in love, and in joy.  Thank you for making my life splendid to live!!! I love you!
