It is a problem, really.
Antiquing. Junking. Thrifting.
Whatever you want to call it.
Because a lot of times, you come home with random stuff.
Stuff like this.
But it all comes together to form a purpose. If you could have seen the look on my babysitter’s face when I brought this ratty old suitcase in. Good times.
But I love it. I love the rugby stripes and the texture. And even though it looks kind of old and gross, it really is great and just the perfect bit of interest propped up in the corner. Just need to find a few more to stack.
The globe…I LOVE the globe. I’ve wanted one with pastel colors to go in the playroom and now we found one for a few dollars.
I’ve been looking for an empty frame to paint (you guessed it) white and put on our mantel or frame some art upstairs. We’ll see what happens when I decide to get creative. 🙂
I love using architectural elements like shutters and doors as accessories to add interest. I’m in the market for something large and show-stopping to use as a headboard in our guest room (which is getting an overhaul as soon as we move the desk, etc. upstairs.) Will you guys keep an eye out for me…because I know you wouldn’t snag it for yourselves if you came across “it.”
(I know it seems like this is becoming a habit, but I better skip Saturday Shout Out today so I can spend some time with family–coming to you from Nashville today–can’t wait to show you my in-law’s charming home!)
Time to share with me…what have you guys found lately??
I just found your way too cute blog- love it- i love the goodwill- i almost never leave empty handed- And i love your finds- i have wanted a globe for a while-but not the bright colored one- a light one like that-Great Find- Just became a follower-look forward to pics of the inlaws home- those southern homes are so lovely
Hey Shaunna. I LOVE all that stuff. They are all weaknesses of mine too – of course they are…we do have the same brain after all! I just bought a massive ornate frame similar to that one. I think I'm gonna blow up a vintage map to fill it, or paint some ply with blackboard paint perhaps, or make it a burlap pin board? Decisions, decisions!
I think all of your random stuff made a perfect vignette in front of the turqouise chest. I think it makes perfect sense why you bought each and every piece, but I have been known to be a shopping enabler. Happy Weekend,Kathysue
I got a great table and 4 chairs n Craig's list for $85!!! Solid maple. I plan on painting and antiquing the legs and painting the top black. The chairs will most likely be white too. 🙂
Love the globe and the frame! You don't usually see one with such nice colors. The frame could be used for lots of things; can't wait to see how you use it.
Love all your finds and would have picked up all of them myself.
These are some awesome finds! I haven't had much time to go thrifting… but my hubby did find some beautiful purple flowers (I don't know what kind) to hang on our porch. They look so pretty. Your great finds are motivating me to get back out and get crafty :)
Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one with a junking/thrifting/antiquing problem. I always wonder what happens when I fill my house up? Then what?
Awesome treasures…my fav is that "COOL" suitcase…it's just my style!
I love all your great finds, especially the frame and shutters. Lucky you! I can't wait to see where they all end up in your homw.
Hey Shaunna…for that headboard-when you get to it… think about a big wood frame with a padded fabric covered inset-we could collaborate…and maybe do some others :)
