I don’t spend time in places I don’t like….places that don’t relax me.
Would it be fair to say that most of us are like that? (I sure hope so or I might sound a little rude right now)
I love spending time outside–when it’s picturesque. We have a great back porch and a nice backyard….nice for eating outside or reading a bit.
Except right now it looks like the Clampett’s live out there. Or Sanford and Son.
One thing at a time, though. In all makeovers/re-do’s, I tend to start by adding beauty first. I know it’s not practical…I should clean it all out, keep what I love, fill in what I need, then switcheroo.
Can’t do it. I have to start with adding something I like to look at, that pleases me. Especially if it’s going to be a work in progress. And with a 3 year old and a 7 month old, believe me, it’s always in progress.
On to what I did yesterday….with Ava on the back porch with me. 🙂
This is a little table we had at our apartment for our little balcony. It was the perfect size and I always loved the little rose detail. Except now I’m kind of over it. It looks a little forlorn–kind of tired.
So on a whim…
Isn’t that soooo much better??? I want to spend time at that table, drinking my morning coffee or watching Gray play outside. We know I’m in serious love with white, but I truly feel like it was the perfect pick-me-up for the set…and it brings out the detail so much more. Roses are supposed to go with white, right?
You ready for the complicated tutorial??
Grab a cloth and get to cleaning that puppy.
Bubbly support. Check.
Did I mention you’re going to need a really big cloth?
And here’s the tricky part: Spray paint it white. Let dry completely. Spray it again.
Little closeup of the roses…and these great ledgers I got for 50 cents! So much character, plus I like reading the random notes inside. It’s funny to think that one day someone could pick up an old notebook of mine and get a little glimpse into what was my life.
Doesn’t it make you want to put a pot of tea on?? (By the way, if any of you wonderful college girls are reading this, doesn’t this remind you of being at Gracie’s tea room? I want some scones and pink tea asap!)
It goes to show you that you don’t have to spend a lot, and it doesn’t always have to be a complicated project to give your home a fresh look and in the process, lift your spirits as well!
have a great weekend!

I found you from your comment at "Life in the Fun Lane". I had to pop over and see your project. I love the white paint on the table and chairs. Great job! Lisa~ http://www.livingmybestlifeii-lisa.blogspot.com
It definitely looks like Gracie's! Next time let's just have tea in your backyard–especially since we are growing quite the entourage of toddlers and babies!
I'm glad you've found me through reinvented, and you are right we sure are quite alike :o)
