setting up shop (& giveaway winners)

By |June 12th, 2012|

I’ve been a little MIA lately.

I know.  I’ve missed writing to y’all like crazy.

First, it was the trip.  I sooo needed a break, and LOVED the time with my man.

We’ve been anxiously preparing for other things since we got back home, too.  For one, I’m helping speak at two sessions for Haven.  More […]

big announcement: Annie Sloan CHALK PAINT™, & other troyfest pics

By |May 4th, 2012|

Whoa, guys and girls.

I’m beat.

Most of you know Troy Fest was last weekend, and I was painting furiously–big and small items–to take to my space at Troy Antiques.

What you may not know, if you don’t follow on Facebook, is that I recently became an Annie Sloan […]

troy fest

By |April 23rd, 2012|

Well, I’ve been working furiously the last week.

I should have been working furiously for 3 weeks.  But alas, that swollen throat syndrome took me out for 7 solid days.

It’s been a while since I’ve shown you my space at Troy Antiques–these are photos from last summer.

antique turned-leg table & a mirror

By |June 20th, 2011|

Remember that wacky shopping trip I took with a shady lady?

The one where I found this beauty??

I couldn’t wait to get started on this one.  I loved the turned-leg style and everything was in pretty good shape (other than the obvious damage to the top).

I […]

elegant buffet & dining room scoop

By |June 8th, 2011|

I hope you enjoyed seeing the window space at Troy Antiques yesterday!  As I said, it was fun to put my things in, and see them as I drive by them on the quaint square.

The buffet pictured in the space is one of my favorite pieces I’ve ever done. […]

the window space

By |June 7th, 2011|

Moving into the window space at Troy Antiques was bittersweet.

It was fun….I loved the pieces I took in; loved working on them all.  But…it occurred to Matt and me one morning last week that everything is about to change.

Our little guy will go to school in August […]

Blue-gray end table

“Live with intention.  Do what you love.”    -m.a. hadmacher

That’s what I’m doing…and I love getting to share it with you, because you guys were the reason I began painting and continued blogging, turning hobbies into business and passion.

And it’s a good thing I love this…because pieces […]

i’m back…and a furniture makeover

By |May 16th, 2011|

Hey there, friends.

I’m back in the states, and I have to tell you, it’s a bittersweet day.  I am so happy to be home with my snuggly bunnies, and yet, I find myself staring out the window quite often, thinking of the people in Honduras.

I couldn’t wait to catch […]

french furniture and a request

By |May 3rd, 2011|

I told you I’d been painting like mad.  Getting the vault ready in a little over a week’s time was CRAZY and I. am. tired.  But…the plus is I’m also thrilled to be painting again.  The ebook was so much fun to create, but it’s kinda nice to have paint all […]

the vault is open!

By |May 1st, 2011|

This has been fun.

This, I mean.  My little vault space in Troy Antiques is officially open.  It’s got a long way to go, but it’s coming together.  Some of this you’ve seen before, and some you haven’t.

The vault entrance is so […]

repurposed finds for the vault

By |April 29th, 2011|

I’ve been painting like mad.  Mad, I tell you.

I have worked on a piece or two of furniture everyday, and over the last week, began pulling together some smaller repurposed finds for the vault space.

I never knew my paintbrush would last so long.  Or that I could […]

me vs. the brick wall

By |April 27th, 2011|

I’m loving the character of the vault I’m moving my furniture into…and remember how I showed you the small patch of brick wall?

I asked the owners, the Anne’s, if they would mind if I could remove some of the concrete to expose the original brick.

Here it is […]

reinventing a ladder, a scale, and a brick wall

By |April 26th, 2011|

A little repurposing never hurt anybody or anything.

Especially not this pretty old ladder.

While I’m sure it misses the days where many a foot rested on it to complete greatness, I’m confident that it will enjoy its lazy days as a magazine/book/vintage linen or letters/anything-else-I-fancy-displaying-on-it holder.

School-Inspired Side Table

By |April 24th, 2011|

You know how a lot of my pieces are white or very muted?  And a lot are layered and dry-brushed?  All I mean is, as a painter, I get into a look and I settle comfortably under the covers.  Hug a pillow and snuggle in for a while.

But every now and then, it’s nice to […]

Spring Happenings and a side table

By |April 21st, 2011|

I’ve been taking a mini-vacation.

You may have noticed; you may not.  For the last few weeks I’ve posted less, hung out with my kiddos more.

After releasing the ebook, some down time was much needed.  It’s important to me to remember why I started blogging in the first place.  I […]

troy antiques sneak peek

By |April 20th, 2011|

I never knew I would open a space in an antiques shop, but it always seemed like a good idea…and a fun one.  That’s sort of been the theme for me the last year.  Never would have imagined…but here goes.

I wanted you to see the before of my little vault space…it […]
