Side Track Coffee Design – Before & After

By |March 1st, 2017|

One of the projects I came into at the beginning of my collaborating with Marsh Collective was the design for Side Track Coffee…

Since I came in at the end, I had nothing to do with the actual design minus input on that bright green under the bar and shaking my head up and down that yes, […]

Stephanie’s Playroom- Wallpaper Installed!

By |November 21st, 2016|

Whew.  Well the blog/site have been dooowwwnnn for about 3 weeks.  Thanks for your patience there, guys.

Since then, Stephanie’s playroom is pretty much complete.  I only have to hang a couple more pieces of art and shoot the space.  Remember I said we had a little set back with a leak?  While first decided to […]

Stephanie’s Playroom Inspiration & Design Board

By |October 25th, 2016|

Now for the good stuff.

I told you about Stephanie’s girls’ playroom we’ve been working on…

The main objective was to refresh the look of the space and reorganize the girls’ art/playing school supplies and give them a more grown up place to lounge.

We’ve changed some things (remember we had a wallpaper incident, so we no longer […]

Design Project- Stephanie’s Playroom

By |October 20th, 2016|

I told you a while back we’ve been taking on design clients again, and when I tell you I love it…I love it.  And I missed delving into these projects so much.  That, writing, and photography are my favorite parts of what I do.

I’ll be sharing all the projects here on the blog, and I’ll keep […]

The Market on Chapel Hill Displays

By |October 18th, 2016|

We had blast at this year’s Market on Chapel Hill…

After my decision to turn PI into a design studio, we brought way less.  We stuck to my typical palette of wood/white focal pieces and mixed in some accents and smalls.

Our backs mostly thanked us.

These white crocks.  With the preserved leaves.

And the heirloom pumpkins….

Southern Living Inspired Home: Living, Kitchen & Laundry

By |July 5th, 2016|

Recently, I got the opportunity to tour Alabama’s first Southern Living Inspired Home.  I grew up with Southern Living magazines spread on our coffee table and in my mom’s kitchen.  Still to this day, I make Southern Living’s homemade shortcakes with fresh strawberries and cream (about once a year because I get lazy).

But Lord they’re […]

4th of July Shoot

By |June 30th, 2016|

A few weeks ago when I was shooting like mad at The Southerly, we threw together a last minute look to feature a more simple gathering at the space.

We just stumbled upon doing a patriotic theme, and it all started with that vintage table linen.

After we scrounged around their storage, we wound up pulling together […]

The Grape Chandelier

By |June 9th, 2016|

We’ve not really updated much at the beach condo the last two summer seasons.

We tackled the biggest of the projects like our bedrooms, getting paint colors changed, and we updated mine/my brother’s/Sara’s bathroom.

Things were pretty dated here, and darrrrkkk….

But so many pieces were updated with a coat of paint (like my lovely desk chair here), […]

Spring Mantel & Living Room Plans

By |April 23rd, 2016|

Lord I don’t know where my week went.

Maybe between being sick isn and work, it just sort of disappeared.  I’ve had this post in my queue for almost two weeks.  Never said I was super organized.  Clearly.

I’ve gotten to where I don’t dig changing my mantels out all the time.  I find rotating mantel decor […]

Ugly Cords & Simple Decorating

By |April 12th, 2016|

I remember when I first started writing about my home, it was totally real time.  Photos were barely edited much less styled, and I never thought twice about things like dust on the floor, lego people on tables, & ugly black cords.

And while I never started caring much about those, when this blog became partly about […]

New Dining Room Chairs

By |January 26th, 2016|

The dining room makeover, to date, still stands as the most popular post on this blog.

And that one about the chicken soup that grew hair.

Really.

You can see all the posts on the dining room here.  You can see the chicken soup that grew hair here.

I’ve been in the market for some new dining room furniture and […]

Design Inspiration: Tracery Interiors

By |January 25th, 2016|

While digging around for some inspiration last week, I stumbled across one of my favorite designer’s portfolio.  These spaces are too good not to share with you….

I love a neutral space, but what makes these rooms sing is all the texture.  The paneled walls, reclaimed beams, natural fiber rugs and chunky linen fabrics make them […]

Guest Room Redecorating

By |January 20th, 2016|

Way, way back when (I had no idea how to pick a paint color), our guest room looked like this….

Eesh.

Not only did we have a Scorsese red going, it was also a semi-gloss finish.  Good Lord it was bad.

Once I started brightening up our house, the guest room was one of the first to transform. […]

Life’s A Beach

By |July 7th, 2015|

Yep, you guessed it… I’m back to redecorating the beach condo.

When my parents bought my grandparents condo a couple of years ago we knew the space had potential but we would have to do a lot of updates to make the space more cozy for our family.

Our first project was the kids room.

The after is […]

Shop The Space

By |July 3rd, 2015|

Good Morning from the beach!

I’m sitting outside enjoying my morning coffee and wondering if I ever have to come home.

Do I??  Maybe nah.

We’ve been digging around for inspiration while gearing up to work on some projects both at my home and for clients…and we decided to start […]

So I have this thing…

By |June 26th, 2015|

So you see….I may have a thing with open shelving.

It helps me stay organized and neat (uh sort of), which I love.

Remember when I first took the doors off my cabinets in the Kitchen?

I feel like this is the best way to show off your pretty dishes and all the other knick knacks around your […]

Kitchen Reveal

By |September 29th, 2014|

It seems like half a lifetime ago when I first mentioned working on the kitchen.  The bulk of the work was done in a couple of weeks, but we took our time finding the right hardware and breadboards and you know, the important things.

Waaay back in the day of 2003-2009ish, our kitchen looked like this […]

Playroom/Homeschool Room Sources

By |September 15th, 2014|

Happy Monday morning to you, friends!

I’ve been dealing with some internet issues this morning since 6 a.m., so I have to say, I’m less chipper than usual this fine day.  If I get this post out to you, it’ll be a good day.  A GOOD day, I tell you.

We’re back with a few sources for […]

On Sharing a Home

By |August 19th, 2014|

Me: Honey, would you mind swinging by the antique store and picking up that door I bought?

Him: Um, what door?

Me:  The black one.  The one with the brass mail slot.

Him: Uhh.

Me:  For the laundry room.  That door.

Him:  You didn’t buy a door already?

Me:  Yes.  The black one. At the antique store.

Him: No, I mean another […]

Pool House Makeover

By |August 5th, 2014|

Today is filled with organizing and preparing the playroom for school.  I’ll be filing and sorting and tossing old worksheets and getting puzzle pieces reunited. It’ll be the best and worst kind of day.  Worst in that I’m sure I’ll step on a million lego pieces and become overwhelmed at approximately 10 a.m. before getting […]
