The Market on Chapel Hill: Antique Hall Cabinet

By |September 22nd, 2015|

Well, we’re in high gear for The Market on Chapel Hill, and have (yikes) a little less than two weeks to get everything loaded in the truck and on the way to Pike Road.

Most of the pieces we’ve found this year needed full overhauls, but this antique cabinet just needed a little hemp oil on […]

Antique Settee

By |August 26th, 2013|

I actually got to go antiquing this weekend.

To a real live store, and not just hopping on Etsy.

We are gearing up for The Chapel Market around here, and while I’m spending most of my days at the computer or doing a new project for the book, it was time […]

Vintage Market: the prep

By |May 22nd, 2013|

I’ve been so ready to share more details of our Vintage Market weekend with you!  We literally worked like dogs to get it all ready, and by Wednesday, closed the shop so we could get it all finished.

On Thursday, we had vendors begin coming in, and I finally decided it was […]

a telephone table & a writing room sneak peek

By |July 13th, 2012|

You know how you just have those weeks?  Those months?

You’re just plugging along, and wham!  It’s time for surgery.  Wham! Time to make the hour trek back to the ER 5 days after surgery.  Oh, you thought you’d be better by now?  Well, sorry, but we (the sickies) don’t work for […]

troy fest

By |April 23rd, 2012|

Well, I’ve been working furiously the last week.

I should have been working furiously for 3 weeks.  But alas, that swollen throat syndrome took me out for 7 solid days.

It’s been a while since I’ve shown you my space at Troy Antiques–these are photos from last summer.

antique turned-leg table & a mirror

By |June 20th, 2011|

Remember that wacky shopping trip I took with a shady lady?

The one where I found this beauty??

I couldn’t wait to get started on this one.  I loved the turned-leg style and everything was in pretty good shape (other than the obvious damage to the top).

I […]

the piece I’ll never paint

By |June 15th, 2011|

Unless something drastically changes or little elves begin making shoes on top of it–beating it up a bit– this guy will never get touched with a paint brush.

Never.  I think.  I found it at Troy Antiques, sitting perfect as is, and all but screaming, “PUT ME IN THE DINING […]

elegant buffet & dining room scoop

By |June 8th, 2011|

I hope you enjoyed seeing the window space at Troy Antiques yesterday!  As I said, it was fun to put my things in, and see them as I drive by them on the quaint square.

The buffet pictured in the space is one of my favorite pieces I’ve ever done. […]

the window space

By |June 7th, 2011|

Moving into the window space at Troy Antiques was bittersweet.

It was fun….I loved the pieces I took in; loved working on them all.  But…it occurred to Matt and me one morning last week that everything is about to change.

Our little guy will go to school in August […]

french furniture and a request

By |May 3rd, 2011|

I told you I’d been painting like mad.  Getting the vault ready in a little over a week’s time was CRAZY and I. am. tired.  But…the plus is I’m also thrilled to be painting again.  The ebook was so much fun to create, but it’s kinda nice to have paint all […]

the vault is open!

By |May 1st, 2011|

This has been fun.

This, I mean.  My little vault space in Troy Antiques is officially open.  It’s got a long way to go, but it’s coming together.  Some of this you’ve seen before, and some you haven’t.

The vault entrance is so […]

reinventing a ladder, a scale, and a brick wall

By |April 26th, 2011|

A little repurposing never hurt anybody or anything.

Especially not this pretty old ladder.

While I’m sure it misses the days where many a foot rested on it to complete greatness, I’m confident that it will enjoy its lazy days as a magazine/book/vintage linen or letters/anything-else-I-fancy-displaying-on-it holder.

Spring Mantel

By |April 3rd, 2011|

It seems like just yesterday I was decorating the mantel for spring last year.  Three seasons, one new camera, and no more lost-Ava-pounds later, it was time to do it again.

It all started with my flea market finds with the mantel mania queen.  It was fun bouncing ideas around […]

off to see p-dub

By |March 11th, 2011|

Well, Layla, Ashley, Rhoda and I are off to see The Pioneer Woman, affectionately known as p-dub (I tend to call her woman who does it all and still looks beautiful all the time).

The last time we all went on a trip, this is how it went…

Sideboard Before and After

By |March 2nd, 2011|

This post seems so long overdue.  You’ve seen this after a million times, but I haven’t ever written a reveal post.

Which means you haven’t seen the before in quite some time.

One fateful day at the beginning of my business, I ran across this guy…

And was told by many that it was ridiculous.

But I could see […]

The Vintage Spool and Words to Live By

By |February 21st, 2011|

It feels so great to be home.  SO great.  If you follow on Twitter, you know that Matt and I took our youth to a conference in Tennessee.

Much of my weekend was spent here…

We had such a blast, although I’m convinced that much time in a 15 passenger van is good for no one. (note: […]

Favorite Room Reveal: All that White!

By |December 30th, 2010|

After a little thought, I decided my homie, Layla, deserved a post dedicated to her awesome linky party.  Head over there to check out her favorites of the year and more blogland makeovers!
And since I just wrote about my favorite room re-do in my Favorite Projects of 2010, I think I’ll just let the photos […]

Darla’s Reveal!!!

By |April 6th, 2010|

First, let me say two things:

One, my computer is going to a new place of crazy and i’ve literally been trying to upload pictures to blogger all morning long!

Second: let me say that our house is turning into a flea market as we wait to get in our addition….there’s theater seating in the living room […]

Aged Antique Grey Coffee Table

By |March 15th, 2010|

Remember this guy?

After some TLC, here’s how he turned out….

I am so pleased with the finish.  It’s been sanded down, painted white, and I distressed it with a black stain–aging it grey.  Added a little hardware and a finish sealer, and voi la!

I am still working on my website and etsy setup, so for now […]
