Just a few things, today.
I absolutely, positively love it when my children eat in my bed. There’s nothing like slipping into the cotton beech sheets after a long hard day’s work painting 100 floor boards to the feel of hardened biscuit crumbles.
Yum.
I put waaayy too much creamer in my coffee this morning. I just needed to wake up to a little indulgence since even my ankle bones are crack-a-lacking.
Not to be dramatic, but isn’t there anyone out there who thought, “hey, why is she laying and painting (stripes on) the floors??? is she crazy?” Next time, feel free to lovingly suggest that may be a bit too much work.
Our house is. so. chaotic. I. can. hardly. breathe.
I’m setting a goal–Ava’s room must be moved back in by Wednesday or I’ll go insane.
Seriously. Remember those beautiful imperfections? I can write the whole month based on this project alone.
My husband is a saint. He so kindly laid the flooring on concrete. That job is not as easy as it sounds, as most floors have plywood sub-flooring. I’m not sure if we are just getting older or what, but the two of us? Little old people creeping around today. He has a limp and none of my limbs will bend.
I knowingly am skipping out on formal school today with Grayson. I had thoughts of plowing ahead on Labor Day, but hey, we’ll focus on geometry. There are plenty of boards left to lay.
Lastly, my cousin Eden (who has fabulous taste in fashion) is now carrying clothes at her boutique. I’m obsessed with her new lines, and have literally worn the one shirt I bought from her 5 times since last Friday. Really.
I guess that’s it.
Oh, P.S. Have you seen Julie & Julia?? I’m about to watch it for the 2nd time in 2 days. Bored am I? Lazy?
Nope, just physically can’t get up off this couch.
Even though you can barely move, I’m sure that Ava’s room will all be worth it when it’s finished! Everything you touch turns into something beautiful!! Can’t wait to see it!!
Until then, enjoy your extra creamer & your movie ( I kinda love Julie & Julia!! ), you certainly deserve both!! Hope your bones are feeling better as the day progresses!!
hope you feel better and ready to run asap! I’m sure the results will be worth it even if you don’t feel like it now! My knees/ankles are giving me quite a bit of trouble too after painting an entire desk for my sister while sitting in a squat since it decided to monsoon and flood into the garage where I was working making it impossible to sit on the floor (don’t worry though the water stopped before the desk but there was furniture piled everywhere behind it while my sister is in between homes so I had no choice but to kill the joints). I can totally feel ya! Sorry for rambling. maybe I should get back to crack-a-lacking….on work…hopefully not my joints!
I totally get it. My house looks insane except for my wee one’s rooms since I spent all Sunday cleaning them. I hate to clean but hate things to be messy. I guess I need to be rich so I can hire a housekeeper.;-)
Love your honesty. If you weren’t honest, and I thought your house stayed as perfectly styled as your posts, I might despise you a little. Keepin’ it real is important! xo
Hi Shauna,
I have been reading your blog for over six months. You have inspired my creative juices to flow endlessly, but I decided to post only after actually working on a piece myself. I am very creative, but have been working crazy hours lately-bummer! I finally decided to do it, so last Wednesday afternoon I decided to paint my dining room table. I know what you’re thinking, why in the world would she start with such a large project… I have no answer for you, except that I have always been a bit crazy! So, I started the project with a hope and a prayer and your blog-having had no experience with chalk paint or painting furniture before in my life. I am happy to report that my table-after much laboring for 3 days- finally looks like a dining room table again! Yeah! The color is a departure from what I am used to, but I really love it. I painted it emperor’s silk. I was going to use it as a base coat and then use the pure white and distress it, but every time I tried, it would wind up with little pink blotches. So, after some major issues with the dark wax, I remembered thinking that I really liked how the emperors silk really complimented the other light colored furniture around the table, so after 3 days and several hours of labor, I settled on an emperor’s silk dining room table. No doubt my family will think it looks crazy, but then again why wouldn’t it be crazy; A funny crazy lady created it! I am planning on redoing almost everything in my house, so your blog has changed my family’s life forever! Thanks again.
