Well, you know how loud it is in the home of toddlers.
And how sometimes, for no apparent reason, and in a matter of seconds, it can go eerily quiet?
You’re cooking dinner, and someone has to go potty. You think to yourself, “I’m so proud of her…all potty trained and grown up. She’s…
Wait a minute. I don’t hear her.”
Complete quiet in a house of toddlers is never a good thing.
Oh I know exactly what you mean. Complete quiet equals TROUBLE! At least Ava takes her sun protection seriously 🙂
I know the feeling all to well….last time we were met by silence, my 4 year old decided to play ‘barber’ with his younger brother and chopped of his GEORGEOUS blond hair! Lol!
priceless! but at least she is learning early the importance of sunscreen!! 🙂
HAHA! I seriously know what you mean! 😀
No, lol, it is never a good thing! But it does provide fun memories when they get older. My youngest is 16, but when she was little, she would sneak out of the house to our neighbors house. She knew I was busy and it was the perfect opportunity. Your’s is a cutie. I miss those days but I’m trying to stay in the present and enjoy where I and my kids are at now.
I have this happen to me on a daily basis and usually it’s followed with a large mess! =) Glad I’m not alone!!!
I remember the days….
She is adorable though covered in what looks like lotion. She was probably trying to be like Mommy putting on lotion and thinking she was so grown up!
Great pix….thanks for putting a smile in my early morning!

That happened to us once only it was white crisco in the kitchen all over a set of twins! We too suddenly realized it was very quiet and then we heard a funny squishy noise and whaa la! White crisco all over both 2 year olds! 🙂
But sometimes in hindsight, it IS funny!
When my oldest boy (who is now 22) was about 4 he took his grandmother’s toothbrush and Desitin and scrubbed down the bathroom. One of his many “experiments”. Enjoy!
I laughed at this. It was a knowing, self-deprecating laugh. A few weeks ago my own toddler, a boy…managed to get into a tub (yes, a tub!) of Boudroux’s Butt Paste. It was full. The havoc was breath taking. I can smile about it now…but it’s taken awhile. Oh, and that stuff is NOT water soluble at all. It took me, Dawn dishsoap & hot water two hours to clean up.
Bwaaaahahahaha! That’s fabulous! It’s even worse when BOTH kids suddenly go quiet together.
Agreed! Mine threw 4 eggs in the back patio floor on Sunday.
Haha! My 4 year old does that quiet thing when hes into something but my 15 month old says “yay!” Thats my cue to run and see what shes digging in!
oh my, took me back….when my son was 2, way back when, i was cleaning the bathroom. kids were playing in living rm. still, i thought boy its awful quiet out there. i walk out and hes got frig door open. mind you, i had carpet in my kitchen. anyway, the full gal milk, and leftover cukes and onion in sour cream, lightly being mixed into the carpet. so i proceed to clean that up, and while im doing that, i again thought how quiet it was. i go into the bathroom which was also carpet, and there was comet being sprinkled all over the floor. boy this really took me back. shes so precious, and such a cutie….. more to come mama, you’re not don yet….tehehe
How cute is she! I have a toddler too so I can relate. You can’t take your eyes off of them for a second without them getting into something. Sneaky lil ones aren’t they?ha

Oh, what a flashback! I have one child, a 19yr old daughter who is a sophomore in college. This post about little Ava makes me smile. One, because I’m way past this phase in motherhood, but mostly because it’s so cute! I’m going to call my daughter now. Or text her…or whatever they’re doing these days!
How adorable! Brings back a flood of memories!
Hahaha ~ pretty much sums it up and definitely brings back a lot of memories. The lipstick covered child, the baby powdered room, oh yes….only occasionally a child sitting quietly and reading books. 😉
The tongue sticking out is too adorable! Love that you grabbed a camera before the paper towels! :o)
Hilarious! Funny how during the day, instead of relishing the quiet it makes us wonder what the heck is being emptied out or drawn on or torn apart.
My toddler likes to cover her body in marker and/or stamps! She has had Expo marker on her chest and stomach for 4 days now- won’t come off! It’s awful but I just can’t help but let out a little laugh after the shock of seeing her “tattoos” has worn off.
My eerily quiet moment came one day when my son was about 3 or 4…way too quiet. I go to check on him and there he is all covered in baby powder along with most of the living room, dining room and his bedroom…I guess I may have got a little upset and when I asked what he thought he was doing….his reply was priceless…”but Mom I was helping you, LOOK I dusted the house.” Well anger turned into laughter and needless to say after much laughing and a LONG talk he really got to learn to help dust the house. He’s almost 26 now and long since moved out…sometimes I wish he would come and “dust the house” :*( Treasure those sunscreen moments they pass way too quickly,
