I’ll say it.

Happy Holidays, everybody!

The Home Depot Give the Gift of Good

I have something very exciting to share with you today.  It’s so exciting, in fact, I’m still quite blown away I’m able to be a part of it.

We all know The Home Depot.  It’s probably a second home for many of us.  If I’m honest, the paint aisle makes my heart skip a beat….every time.  We heart The Home Depot. Well, this is going to make you heart them more.

The Home Depot’s theme this holiday season is “Give the Gift of Good.”  Simply what the holidays are all about.

Last week, several DIY and military bloggers were asked to come to Atlanta (yours truly was sick–still–on the couch) to help build a shelter for homeless veterans.  What an opportunity to serve using the abilities we’ve been given.  I was so humbled and excited to be a part.

I was also SO bummed when I couldn’t shake the sniffles to be there.  Well, little did I know that last week was the first step to something way bigger.

Kelly and Nicole called me on behalf of the Home Depot corporate team to tell me the big news.  Each of us bloggers get to nominate one local military family to win a $20,000 HD home improvement!!!!!

Yes.  I just said $20,000 on this blog.

So, here’s where I need you locals to help!!!  I’m looking for any deserving military family in the Montgomery, Alabama metro area…maybe even as far out as Prattville. I’ll need a couple of photos: one of them, and a few of the home (preferably areas they’d like to improve.)  If you’re nominating someone, please let them know and be sure to give me as much detail as possible.  Tell me all about them and their story…don’t leave out a detail.

🙂

The contest is open to any natural person who is a legal U.S. resident, a current or former member of a branch of United States Military, an immediate family member (or person living in the household) of a current or former member of a branch of the United States Military, and over the age of majority in their state of residence.

The family must own their home.

I’ll be getting in touch with the local base on Monday, and working with local news as well.  The hope is to reach as many people as possible to make sure we select the most deserving family.

Afterwards, I’ll announce the Montgomery area nominee/family, and voting (on Facebook–details later) will go live on November 29!

Send your submissions/photos/stories to shaunna@perfectlyimperfectblog.com subject GIVE THE GIFT OF GOOD.  Submissions must be sent by Friday, November 18, at Midnight CST.  The nominated family will be confirmed on November 28.

This is quick time frame, so PLEASE send any submissions asap!  I’m SO blessed and excited to pass along this opportunity to a deserving family that has served our country…and I need your help to do it!  If you’re local to Alabama, please share this link along to your friends on Facebook and Twitter, and let’s support this wonderful, INCREDIBLE cause.

I can’t wait to get started!!
