Hey friends!
I missed you today, and missed you this weekend.
Something has been weighing on my mind. Well, a couple of things.
Everything is okay now, but we’ve had some things going on around here the last couple of weeks, and I’m tired.
You ever feel that kind of tired? Sure you do. We all do.
It was a good day today, though. I had some great test results come back today. A little scare, but this mama’s good.
Mama’s little man is also having some trouble. His hands and feet have started falling asleep lately…quite a bit. His neuro exam last week checked out great…so praise God for that! We were trying other things this week, and he’s still having the episodes. We’ll talk with his doctor tomorrow to find out what our next step is.
I’m sure he’s fine, but, of course, we’re ready to know. I have been blessed these last few weeks…with such a peace. This time has reminded me of how little control we have. We’re just along for a journey….and I ask you say a prayer for my little man’s journey. I’ll keep you guys updated.
Promise.
So, today, when we went to out of town to my appointment, it sunk in for the first time that something could be really wrong with me. (It’s not–remember?) I finally felt a little unsure, and thought how cruddy it really would be. By the time I got the final ok from my second test, I was emotionally exhausted.
Then, I let myself think about my little boy. And I was completely drained.
So, my sweet husband did what any good man would do. He called his boss and asked if he could take his wife out.
We caught an late breakfast and an early movie. And it was my bright idea to go see The Help.
Because I wanted to laugh.
Laugh I did, but bawl I did more.
But I kissed my husband a lot today. I looked up at blue skies and felt the warm sun on my face. And it was a good day.
Until I got a flat tire.
What’s that thing about turning lemons into lemonade?
🙂
Aw darlin, you are so real, I just love you!! I am sure there is nothing wrong, it’s your mommy brain that’s causing so much worry! Everything will be fine, you’ll see. And so glad you saw The Help, I cannot wait!
Many hugs to you,
xo
Kate
Thanks, Kate! We’ll talk with the doc today, so we’ll see. 🙂

Have missed you…don’t you hate it when it rains it pours? But you handled it beautifully!
Lots of love and prayers, Shaunna. I’m so glad you have a peace of mind. Me and my little man will put you and your little man in our bedtime prayers. Hang in there.
Aww, hope everything is alright with the Bub. I’m sure it’s nothing. My hubby worries when our five year old gets headaches, but I know it’s just because she gets easily dehydrated. She takes after her mama that way. Glad to hear everything is all right with you! It no funny when you’re half worried about something All the time.
Nice to hear you liked The Help. I’m going Wednesday with a friend. I just loved the book! Take care, and give that hubby of yours lots of kisses. It’s good for the sole. ; )
i’m kind of a newbie to your blog…i’ve been a follower for a couple of months now…but i don’t believe i’ve ever left a comment. i just wanted to say that i know exactly what you have been feeling. in april, i had a health issue come up that ended up requiring an outpatient surgery…ugh…just be sure my testing and my dr’s thinking was correct…that everything was a-okay…and it was..praise god!! i, like you, was scared…especially since i have two littles at home. my husband’s job has been up and down the last year or so and they finally “officially” closed the doors this past friday. it’s apparent that we have to lean completely on god…to trust that he knows best….because we know that he does. i will definitely keep you, your son and your family in my prayers. 🙂
blessings,
rachel
You’ve been going through a hard time, so I hope you will continue to take time to let your emotions and spirit recover. You need lots more kisses and lots more sunshine! Take all you can get.
Hey Shaunna! So sorry to hear about your tough day…or week but very glad you are ok! One thing that I wanted to add…I personally went through the same thing that your son is having. My hands and feet were numb and tingly and when I would get in the shower or bath they would BURN like fire! It was so weird and it got worse and worse until I finally went in and had a blood test. Everything was fine but I was vitamin D deficient! Crazy how that can make so many weird things happen! I started taking a big dose of vitamin D every day and the symptoms went away immediately! I just figured I’d share just in case that was the case with your son. Even if his vitamin D levels look normal on the blood tests you may try upping his dose a little and see if that helps…can’t hurt! I hope things get figured out soon!! Praying for your family!
Ah, the pins and needles in the hands and feet. Yup, I agree with the girl above me. But, screening for celiac may be helpful as well. It’s a simple blood test, and I remember that as one of the symptoms…
When it rains it pours…we are in the midst of a thunderstorm here this week as well…
Take care.
🙂
Oh, Shaunna, I’m sorry to hear of your worries, but glad you’re well and am sending love and wishes that your little guy will be healthy too. xo
Hey Shaunna……our names are very much alike. I have been following your blog for a couple of months and love the story you are writing. I just happen to find this post. My oldest son had Gluten intolerance….not Celiac disease and did complain of his hands and feet with pins and needles. A few weeks of going gluten free…..symptoms gone! Sometimes there belly just needs a few months to heal and then you can start introducing the foods back again. Are there any other symptoms? tired, asthma, skin rash? Hope everything works out and glad that you are ok too!
Shanna…he is having some asthma trouble and a little skin rash…kind of like tiny tiny bumps on the back of his neck. Did your son have this as well? thanks so much for giving me some info! He was gluten intolerant as a little guy…but it seemed he had grown out of it. ?? Thanks again!

Shauna – what a BLESSING it was to read this. Our children are SO close in age (4 and almost 2), and our careers are so similar that I feel like we’re walking very similar lives – just in different countries! I want to say you’re message was beautiful and a great reminder to turn my face upwards again – and remember that this life is not my own.
Your sister in Christ,
Kahley
p.s I have a GREEEEEAT book for you to read – if you have time! I don’t know you well but I have have a good feeling that this book would be incredible for you – it was for me. It’s called “one thousand gifts” By Ann Voscamp. It’s about SEEING (learing how to recognize) His gifts in the everyday teeny tiny small things, and preparing your heart to gracefully receive the things in your life that don’t feel much like a gift. All is gift, because everything He does is for the good, somehow.
So glad to hear your test results were good! A few years ago my hands and arms were falling asleep as I went about my day. Nothing was found and it just went away after a few weeks, but your son will be in my prayers. 🙂
I can’t help but thinking of the verse my little guy says from Isaiah 41:10. “Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be freaked out (okay, Isaiah really says ‘dismayed’, but a 7 year old knows what freaking out is like) for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you. I will hold you up in my righteous right hand.” So always remember, He WILL strengthen you, He WILL help you, and He WILL hold you up. He promised!
So very glad to hear that things turned-out ok, that waiting feeling is awful but I guess that’s why it feels so good when all is right and just 🙂
I hope today is better. Prays for you and your family.
Debbie
Praying for you all Shaunna! Love you girl!
I am so happy to hear everything turned out well for you, and I will be adding your little man to my prayers.
Be well 🙂
Hugs again Shaunna!
You are such a real person. You open your heart to everyone with your kindness. We will all keep you and your son in our prayers. Have a blessed day.
Susan
Shaunna, so glad the test results were fabulous 🙂 I will say prayers for the little one….I want to go see The Help too….I hate flat tires….but they can be REPAIRED!
Have a great day!
Lou Cinda 🙂
So glad you are ok, will be praying for your little guy- please keep us posted. God is good, all the time! 🙂
Praying that the Dr figures it out soon and that you have a peaceful week!
Shaunna,
I agree with the comments above about getting him checked for the gluten allergy and celiac disease. Its really amazing how many people are having issues with it these days.
If either of these come back negative it could be his spine needs to be adjusted. When I was in high school I got an injury from swimming. My hip would pop out of the socket and could hardly walk. Then my knee started to hurt and after seeing many mds it was determined that I would need knee surgery (I was 16). My mom had at the time started working for a chiropratic dr (to make a little extra cash) and he suggested me coming in to see him. Turned out after some xrays of my whole body, that I was all twisted. At this time I was also having horrible headaches.. migranes. He and I talked and he showed me where my spine was pinching and what nerves were controlled in those areas. After several adjustments I was able to walk and the headaches went away. I never had to have surgery. Ive been seeing a chiropractor for years now… usually my headaches will start up I make and appointment and then Im good for awhile.
Its really amazing how our bodies work. I know that some people dont believe in chiropractic. As someone who has benefited from both Medical professionals and chiropractic I believe that they should work hand in hand… especially when and if there is no answer in the Medical field..
I pray that he will be healed!

I think Acupuncture would do wonders for your little peanut if you think he’d be up for it. Or craniosacral therapy ~ it did wonders for my 7 yr old. Many prayers for you both!
