It seems as though I just have to work a little harder to hang out with you guys lately. Me, my computer, and my phone are all on
if-fy terms as of late.
All in the past for today and we’ve got a new computer request for Christmas. Anybody got a used macbook pro they want to sell??
🙂
Another announcement….my twitter page is finally confirmed! They kept sending it to the wrong email address, but…I LOVE twitter and now that I can tweet on the go…look out, world.
Here’s my social network…so come find me, friends.🙂

Today’s reveal is a little bittersweet for me. I found this antique vanity back when I met EC Oswald (who’s now sadly out of business–I miss my trips there!).
See….it’s beautiful, right? It’s even got the original wooden castors…one is chipped, but it rolls just fine and what character it has! It was the kind of piece I didn’t want to cover in paint, but restore it “my style” with a light washing or brushing.
As I sanded, it became clear there was just too much water damage to restain or wash.
Keeping with my style lately, I gave it a layered treatment.
I gave it a metallic base, antiqued it, and completed with dry brushing white, distressing, and glazing the entire piece. Sounds like a lot, but really, it wasn’t bad. And I truly feel like this brings out some of the character that could have been lost in a solid application.
I can see it being a place to find inspiration,
or beauty,
or both…whatever suits you.
🙂
The original hardware was updated to an antique silver, but I let some of the brass show through occasionally.
It will be listed on the website later today, and you can contact me for more info and shipping quotes. I think this one needs to be freighted to protect it. I’m offering free delivery if someone local wants it!
I’ve got a complete tutorial and video instruction on getting this look coming to you guys tomorrow!
See you then….unless you let me aggravate you on twitter.
🙂

Shaunna, it turned out great! I too love the little castors. I've found myself in a roll-around phase. I have yet to actually attach wheels to anything, but I think about it all the time, haha.
Absolutely beautiful!!!!

I'm not sure which I like better or made me drool more, the way you finished this piece or the way you staged your photos! Beautiful 🙂
